REGULATORY TECHNICAL ENGINEER STUDENT

Work Term: 4-Month Term (May–August), with Possible Extension
Work Arrangement: Full-Time, Onsite/Hybrid (1 day per week remote)
Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Compensation: Paid position

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated engineering student with an interest in regulatory compliance, engineering standards, or technical documentation. As a Regulatory Technical Engineer Student, within the Engineering Business Systems team, you will support regulatory compliance activities for New Flyer and MCI, assist with assessments of compliance documentation and contribute to audit procedures. This role offers a hands-on learning experience in commercial vehicle safety technical standards while working closely with subject matter experts.

- Coordinate tasks and deliverables to meet project schedules, deadlines, and lead times.
- Maintain communication with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
- Participate in Engineering and additional meetings to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide weekly status reports, including completed and outstanding actions.
- Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary engineering program.
- Eligible to work in Canada and available to meet the required work schedule and work arrangement for the duration of the term.
- Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis(FMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an asset.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards(FMVSS) in the U.S. and Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards(CMVSS) is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
