Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Place, is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Structural Engineer to help lead buildings projects commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, such as Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations) This position can be based out of the Winnipeg office with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to site may be required. This role offers opportunities for career growth.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to:
Municipal, Commercial, Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Major Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of structural building designs

  • Independently perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures in accordance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with clients and internal team members in the development of designs and preparation of technical specifications of structural building systems

  • Prepare structural analysis and calculation reports.

  • Coordinate with other business lines and engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure efficient project execution.

  • Conduct reviews to ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, analysis) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices

  • Assist in organizing and maintaining structural design guidelines

  • Provide engineering support and supervision to EIT’s, Technologists, Technicians and CAD/REVIT staff.

  • Review of shop drawings for structural adequacy and compliance with structural drawings

  • Carry out business development activities including client liaison, proposal preparation and promotional work

  • Prepare or assist in preparation of engineering fee estimates for bids and proposal on structural engineering.

  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and structural assessments to evaluate structure’s conditions and provide recommendations.

  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations

  • Stay updated on codes, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure high-quality design solutions.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

    In order to be considered for this position, candidates must meet the requirements below, at a very minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering and Six (6) years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Manitoba in good standing.

  • Holding security clearance or the ability to obtain secret level security clearance

  • Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules is a must.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential).
