English Second Language Teacher – Cosmo 1:1
Join to apply for the English Second Language Teacher role at Cosmo, an online learning platform that connects K‑12 students across the US, Canada, and Asia with tutors from top universities and colleges for personalized lessons.
As a tutor for Cosmo 1:1, you will set a flexible, consistent schedule. You will teach one‑on‑one lessons, each lasting 50 minutes, and you will use Cosmo‑provided lesson plans and teaching resources. You are expected to build a welcoming and engaging learning environment, and to model reliability, punctuality, and a passionate, kind demeanor when students attend class.
Base rate: $20 CAD plus additional incentives and bonuses.
Responsibilities- Provide personalized 1‑on‑1 instruction for your students
- Update your availability in the Cosmo App in a timely manner
- Prepare appropriate lesson materials for the student's age and ability
- Submit class feedback after each lesson
- Communicate with parents and students in a professional manner
- Attend all classes on time in a professional setting
- Communicate productively with Cosmo staff
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 years of teaching experience in grades K‑12 in math, ELA, or SAT prep
- Experience with K‑12 ELA/Math standards
- Teaching license preferred but not required
- Fast, reliable internet connection and access to a Windows or Mac PC with a minimum CPU of 6000
- Availability to commit to a minimum of 6 months with Cosmo 1:1
- Available between 6‑9 AM EST or 3‑10 PM EST Monday‑Friday or weekends
- Minimum of 20 hours of weekly availability
- Access to a private, quiet location
- Passion for helping students learn
- Currently located in the United States or Canada
- Approachable and able to build rapport and make students feel comfortable in an online classroom
- Patient, taking the time to ensure students understand content at an appropriate pace
- Adaptive, tailoring lessons and environment to each student's needs
- Considerate, with the emotional intelligence to notice when a student feels discouraged and to rebuild confidence
- Enthusiastic, passionate about education and radiating energy that makes classes fun
- Reliable, consistently arriving on time and prepared for each session
