Position Description
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of school administrators and with the input of other professionals, Educational Assistants promote and support inclusive practices within Pembina Trails School Division. Educational Assistants work collaboratively in assisting students with diverse needs and abilities, fostering engagement in the learning environment.
Specific Duties:
Working within established school structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and student expectationsWorking with students with behavioural and learning challengesProviding academic assistance to students in classroom, small group and individual settingsDelivering specialized or adapted programming to students under the direction of the classroom teacher and resource teacherProviding documentation of student-specific program performanceProviding supports for students with challenging educational needsSupervising recess and lunch dutySupervising and assisting with the swim programAdministering student medication as determined by the student’s U.R.I.S. planSupporting students in community based programsSupporting students’ emotional, behavioural and physical needsBeing flexible in terms of adapting to students’ educational programmingUsing augmentative and alternative communicationFacilitating the transport of students between education sitesAssisting students with their eating, which may include but is not limited to:supervision of students during lunchoral feeding, including general assistance with oral motor safety plansOther duties as assigned.
