Under the general supervision of school administrators, Educational Assistants promote and support inclusive practices within Pembina Trails School Division.

Employment Classification: Temporary Educational Assistant 1 (EA1). This position is replacing an employee on maternity/parental leave and is not eligible to become a regular permanent position.

Hours: 3 hours per day

Start Date: February 02, 2026

End Date: June 30, 2026 or the last day students are in class

Position Summary: Educational Assistants work collaboratively in assisting students with diverse needs and abilities, fostering engagement in the learning environment.

Specific Duties:

• Working within established school structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and student expectations
• Working with students with behavioural and learning challenges
• Providing academic assistance to students in classroom, small group and individual settings
• Delivering specialised or adapted programming to students under the direction of the classroom teacher and resource teacher
• Providing documentation of student‑specific program performance
• Providing supports for students with challenging educational needs
• Supervising recess and lunch duty
• Supervising and assisting withхы the swim program
• Administering student medication as determined by the student’s U.R.I.S. plan
• Supporting students in community based programs
• Supporting students’ emotional, behavioural and physical needs
• Being flexible in terms of adapting to students’ educational programming
• Using augmentative and alternative communication
• Facilitating the transport of students between education sites
• Assisting students with their eating, which may include but is not limited to supervision of students during lunch, oral feeding, including general assistance with oral motor safety plans
