Position: Farm Program Coordinator

Employment: Full-time, salaried

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday including evenings, and weekends as required

Fort Whyte Farms (FWF) is the award‑winning social enterprise branch of Fort Whyte Alive that engages youth facing barriers in hands‑on programming that builds skills, confidence, and leadership. Through sustainable agriculture, culinary arts, woodworking, and social enterprise programs that change with the seasons, FWF provides mentorship and employment opportunities from school‑year learning, summer employment as well as seasonal projects.

Job Summary

The Farm Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Fort Whyte Farm’s youth programs, Farm‑related public programming and social enterprise programming. With a primary focus on youth programming, the Farm Program Coordinator will build strong relationships with the youth and mentor them in professional development and building life skills. The Farm Program Coordinator will support the youth as they move through activities organized by other staff related to social enterprise, sustainable agriculture, culinary arts, and woodworking and will assist with program evaluation and reporting, to ensure metrics and program outcomes are being met.

The Farm Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Public Program department to coordinate and facilitate Farm‑related programming for the public. They will also assist with Social Enterprise activities such as rentals, seasonal Farmer’s market operations and the CSA (community supported agriculture) program.

This role supports an evolving program environment and the successful candidate will be creative, show initiative, collaborative, and adaptable, with a strong focus on teamwork, problem‑solving, and ongoing program development.

Principal Tasks
  • Coordinate, facilitate and mentor youth participants through year‑round programs focused on Farm‑themed content and employability skills
  • Collaborate with the Farm Operations Manager, Social Impact Manager, Woodshop Coordinator and Kitchen Coordinator to ensure efficient scheduling and cohesive programming
  • Manage current relationships with schools to ensure program requirements are being met
  • Strengthen current connections and develop new relationships with schools and school divisions to promote awareness of FWF youth programs and create future opportunities
  • Coordinate the transportation of program participants, which includes scheduling staff drivers as well as taking part in driving participants in the 15‑passenger van on a regular basis
  • Responsible for upkeep and scheduling maintenance of passenger vans
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of seasonal social enterprise activities with youth and Farm staff
  • Support the coordination of Farm public programming
  • Coordinate Farm program volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager including scheduling, orientation and training
  • Seek and maintain relationships with external organizations and community resources to provide youth with wrap‑around support, learning and training experiences, and community service opportunities
  • Assist in maintaining evaluation metrics of defined program outcomes and compile the findings
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing and training youth staff across programs
  • Seek and maintain relationships with employers, employment services, post‑secondary educational institutions or training programs to support bridging youth to future opportunities
Qualifications Required
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Education, Social Work, Social Sciences or equivalent experience
  • Experience in youth program development, facilitation and evaluation
  • Proven ability in youth mentorship while fostering a positive work environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively with other team members to accomplish shared goals
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate programs for large groups of all ages and abilities
  • Class 4 license is required and the chosen candidate will be supported in obtaining this if needed
  • Satisfactory child abuse registry and criminal records check is required
  • Training in First Aid & CPR, Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention or Trauma Informed Care considered an asset
