Position Description

Garden Valley School Division invites applications for the full‑time (1.0 FTE) term position of Grade 6 Teacher at Winkler Elementary School from January 19, 2026 to March 27, 2026.

The division is located in the heartland of Manitoba’s Pembina Valley Region and includes 14 schools with a student population of about 4,300.

• Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate.
• Prior experience teaching in a grade 6 classroom would be considered an asset.
• The ability to work alongside teachers, colleagues and contribute collaboratively as a team member.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check.

Winkler Elementary School (WES) is a K‑8 school in the heart of Winkler with 401 students, a teaching staff of about 27, and a support staff of about 21. WES offers a full range of academic programs including Middle Years Exploratory courses that include Home Economics and Industrial Arts. Second language instruction begins in grade 4 with French and German as options.

In addition, the school has a band program that starts in grade 5. Students in grades 7 and 8 have opportunities for a wide range of extra‑curricular sports programs that include soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, badminton and cross country. The school is particularly noted for its vocal and instrumental extra‑curricular jazz groups.
