The successful candidate will be eligible for faculty appointment in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
BRIEF POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is seeking a part-time (0.45 FTE) Obstetrician/Gynecologist who will provide clinical care and academic support relevant to early pregnancy assessment, contraception in complex situations and family planning including medical and surgical termination.
RESPONSIBILITIESEarly Pregnancy Assessment (0.1 FTE, 4h per week, Shared Health)
- Teach medical learners and provide care including transabdominal and endovaginal ultrasound for stable outpatients presenting with bleeding in pregnancy under 14 weeks.
- Provide first and second trimester abortion care with preoperative assessment and contraception provision as requested.
- Clinical teaching to trainees on rotation is expected.
- Participate in on-call gynecologic coverage rotation within the city of Winnipeg.
- Update the Ryan program every 2 years, attend Ryan program educational sessions at Society of Family Planning annual meeting, meet with residents and coordinate rotation.
- Oversee the running and updating of the PGY-1 4-week Ryan/US Program for residents in obstetrics-gynecology, see administrative position description.

The services described above could be supplemented with work in the following areas to increase the FTE allocated to this job up to a maximum of 1.0 FTE:
- General ambulatory care gynecology (with access to procedure room and operating room)
- Additional acute-care gynecology service
- Ambulatory prenatal care (after-hours coverage to be arranged within existing call structure)
- Preclerkship, clerkship and post‑graduate medical education
- Surgical assist
- Itinerant gynecology and gynecologic surgical practice (e.g. Thompson, MB)
- Academic and administrative leadership opportunities posted regularly in the department
- Research and/or quality improvement
- On‑call coverage for obstetrical patient transport
- Current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba specialist registry as a generalist Obstetrician Gynecologist
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency or eligibility for permanent residency
- Eligibility for hospital privileges within Shared Health
- Eligibility for a University of Manitoba teaching appointment
- Fellowship in Family Planning and Contraception (preferred)
- Advanced training in early ultrasound for diagnosis of early pregnancy abnormalities (preferred or willing to undertake training during employment—potentially requiring short‑term travel out of province sponsored by the department)
- Advanced training in first and second trimester procedural abortion (to at least 19+6 weeks of pregnancy)…
