Overview
Shared Health Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 3H8) invites applications for a full-time Forensic Pathologist position to support province-wide medico-legal autopsies and hospital-based autopsies as required. The autopsy workload for the province is approximately 2000 cases per year, distributed among nine forensic pathologists. The successful candidate will join a team of pathologists and participate in departmental academic activities, training pathology residents from the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, and providing instruction to allied health professionals.
The department provides in-house toxicology and histology services, with access to consultation from staff in the Pathology Department. In addition, three full-time neuropathologists provide regular neuropathology services and consultation, and forensic odontologists and an anthropologist are available. The successful applicant may be eligible to apply for an appointment with the Department of Pathology, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.
Responsibilities- Provide province-wide medico-legal autopsies (adult and pediatric) in a medical examiner system and family-consented hospital-based autopsies as required.
- Participate in departmental academic activities and train pathology residents from the University of Manitoba.
- Provide instruction to allied health professionals.
- Collaborate with in-house toxicology and histology services and seek consultations as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to departmental teaching and research activities.
- Medical degree.
- Certification in Anatomical or General Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
- Eligible to sit for the Canadian Royal College examination in Forensic Pathology.
- Eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
Shared Health provides a competitive compensation package with annual salary scales of Step 1 – $/year and Step 2 – $/year.
