MS Neuro Immunologist – Shared Health-Soins Communs Job Description
Shared Health Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and The University of Manitoba, Department of Internal Medicine (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a MS Neuro Immunologist to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and x-rays and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 50% of the position.
The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 50% of the position. Job duties are required in English. This is an academic position within the Section of Neurology, one that has substantial resources within the health system, primarily at two academic health centres and one community-based hospital.
The MS Clinic at the Health Sciences Centre serves as the provincial MS Clinic in Winnipeg. Our patient population includes nearly 3000 persons with demyelinating disease. We have four subspecialty trained MS neurologists, collectively adding up to about 1.35 FTE of clinical time. The clinic includes nursing support, a nurse practitioner, a 0.5 FTE PT, 0.8 FTE OT, 0.5 FTE dietitian, and a 0.5 FTE social worker.
Clerical staff are shared with the neurology clinic which uses an electronic medical record feeding into a clinical database.
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Neurology. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
CompensationCompensation is derived from a blend of fee-for-service income plus additional stipends.
