Overview
The Link is hiring! The Organization supports youth and families through a variety of programs including a 24-hour crisis line, youth resource centers, emergency shelters, mobile crisis teams, specialized foster care, healing homes, job readiness supports, and Skills4
Life in Manitoba. The Team Lead will assist the Healing Home Supervisor in daily operation and development of the home, aligning with a strengths based, trauma informed, relational child and youth care approach.
About the Opportunity:
The Team Lead will work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other Programs to promote youth strengths, potential and capacity for growth while practicing open-mindedness and inclusion regarding culture and ceremony for children, youth, and their care providers.
- Provides coverage for the Healing Home Supervisor during scheduled absences and fulfills all responsibilities of the Healing Home Supervisor
- Completes administrative duties as assigned by the Healing Home Supervisor, including: interviewing and hiring Youth Care Practitioners
- Schedules, coordinates and trains casual Youth Care Practitioners
- Provides orientation for new staff
- Distributes information to the team; coordinates meetings and home maintenance
- Performs financial and purchasing responsibilities, such as replenishing household supplies and managing petty cash
- Mentors Youth Care Practitioners and participates in ongoing professional development
- Participates in meetings as required; promotes teamwork and models positive behavior for youth
- Supports the program to reflect The Link treatment philosophy and organizational policies; represents the program and organization professionally
- Demonstrates understanding of the Child and Family Services system in Manitoba, with emphasis on Indigenous communities and historical trauma
- Creates or supports a collaborative environment while sharing credit with the team
The successful candidate should demonstrate competencies aligned with the Seven Sacred Teachings:
- Child and Youth Care Worker diploma or certificate (or equivalent) with a minimum of 4 years experience in the youth care field
- Understanding and appreciation of Indigenous issues within a child welfare environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to write incident reports and develop documents
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge, awareness, and respect of Indigenous cultures, languages, traditions, and practices
- Indigenous lens that is holistic and strengths-based for Indigenous children, youth, families and communities
- Knowledge of intergenerational barriers and oppression impacting Indigenous people
- Knowledge of systems for children in care, school, and family functioning; child welfare preferred
- Analytical and critical thinking skills; adaptability with compassion
- Willingness to reflect and seek guidance to align with the organization’s mission and values
- ASIST certificate preferred or willing to obtain
- Crisis de-escalation training preferred or willing to obtain
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry, and Adult Abuse Registry checks within the last 3 months
- Valid class 5F driver’s license and acceptable driver's abstract (subject to approval)

Working Hours & SalaryWorking Hours:
Full-Time, 80 hours biweekly. Shifts include days, evenings, sometimes overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Salary Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour, with access to paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid personal days, and benefit and pension plans when eligible.
