Manager, Canola Utilization
The Canola Council of Canada (CCC) represents the canola value chain, uniting approximately 40,000 growers, life science companies, grain handlers, processors, and food and feed manufacturers. Guided by a new Strategic Framework, the Council aims to advance coordinated industry action to strengthen Canada’s global canola leadership. The Manager, Canola Utilization
, will execute a strategy to support demand for Canadian canola products (oil and meal) in target markets. Working across internal teams, domestic and global stakeholders, the Manager will translate research and market insights into coordinated, measurable utilization activities supporting the growth and profitability of the Canadian industry.
- Lead the development, coordination, and execution of a targeted canola utilization strategy focused on increasing demand for Canadian canola oil and meal in specific domestic and international markets.
- Drive market development efforts to increase demand for canola meal, as significant new Canadian crush capacity comes online.
- Identify and advance new end-use opportunities for canola meal beyond traditional livestock feed applications, leveraging research, technical expertise and industry partnerships.
- Support the operations of the CCC Utilization Committee.
- Manage and coordinate the Canola Info program and oversee external consultants, including subject‑matter experts in key international markets.
- Develop and manage annual work plans and utilization budgets in collaboration with internal teams in alignment with the CCC Strategic Framework (2025‑2030).
- Work closely with internal teams, including Market Access, Corporate Programs, Communications, and Innovation, Production, and Supply, to ensure coordinated execution of utilization priorities.
- Provide technical input and messaging support to promotional materials that communicate the value proposition of Canadian canola oil and meal.
- Contribute to funding applications, including relevant federal programs, and provide regular program and budget reporting to senior leadership and the CCC Utilization Committee.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with provincial commissions, industry partners, government agencies, international customers and other key food and agriculture stakeholders.
- Represent the Canola Council of Canada at seminars, conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings domestically and internationally, as applicable.
- Identify and manage resource requirements and coordinate internal expertise and external support as needed to execute strategic initiatives efficiently and effectively.
- Post‑secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Marketing, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- 3‑5 years of experience in agriculture, market development, business, food, feed, nutrition, or a related sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic plans, work programs, and multi‑stakeholder initiatives, including budgets and reporting.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing consultants, budgets and program reporting requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, compelling messaging.
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Knowledge of the canola industry, global agricultural markets, or the food and feed sectors is considered an asset.
- Professional maturity, sound judgment and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
This full‑time position is based in either Winnipeg, Manitoba or Ottawa, Ontario, in a hybrid work environment. Domestic and international travel for industry events, stakeholder meetings, and trade‑related activities is required to be successful in the role.
