POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and driven Commodity Manager to join our Strategic Sourcing team in Winnipeg. In this role, you will lead supplier relationships and sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, focusing on cost reduction, innovation, and performance. You will develop strong supplier partnerships, manage contract negotiations, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This position requires strategic thinking, strong analytical abilities, and the capability to influence key business outcomes through effective sourcing decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Develop and execute supply strategies for assigned commodities. Keeps abreast of and suggests implementation of new technologies and innovations brought forth by suppliers to provide cost reductions and product improvements.
  • Identify, select, and develop suppliers based on the requirements of New Flyer. Considers all aspects of requirements including cost and. Develop, manage, promote, and improve strategic alliances and relationships with suppliers under commodity responsibility. Works to develop effective partnerships with strategic suppliers. Lead resolution of business issues with assigned suppliers as required.
  • Manage the negotiation of all annual pricing, LTA’s and tooling costs with suppliers.
  • Keep informed of market trends and cost drivers relative to materials and components and make recommendations designed to reduce the costs and improve methods for commodities under his responsibility.
  • Perform spend analysis and market testing to identify opportunity areas for cost reduction.
  • Conduct regular business and performance reviews with suppliers’ management to assess and evaluate their means of ensuring continuous improvement in quality and cost savings.
  • Project manage the evaluation, certification, and implementation of new suppliers.
  • Assist the Director, Strategic Sourcing in the preparation of reports and presentations for Senior Management.
  • Support the Sourcing department to ensure Buy America, New York content, DBE Goals and other regulatory compliance.
  • Perform Supplier Risk Assessments on assigned suppliers to support company Supplier Risk management program.
  • Ensure system costing and pricing is maintained accurately for assigned suppliers. Review PPV.
  • Ensure all new parts in assigned commodity area are receiving best pricing.
  • Support bid pricing group as required with quotations or other supplier price verification for costing of bids.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

Education:

  • University degree in a related field preferred
  • Completion of SCMP or relevant purchasing education is an asset

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of senior purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong track record in supplier negotiation and relationship management

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Travel:

  • Up to 15%
