Description of DutiesWe welcome new volunteers who are eager to support a local festival in celebration of the fibre arts (wool, yarn, knitting/crochet, and more) and local textiles.
We are currently seeking an Assistant for Vendor Coordination.
Works with and reports to Vendor Coordinator
Timeframe: January to September
The Vendor Coordinator Assistant will assist in executing all vendor‑related needs during the Manitoba Fibre Festival, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees, vendors, and exhibitors. This role requires hands‑on work, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication to support a diverse range of activities.
Tasks- Assist with vendor adjudication (cannot be a vendor for the Festival)
- Assist with Emerging Makers adjudication
- Back up the Vendor Coordinator in answering vendor emails leading up to the festival
- Assist with set up and take down of the vendor hall
- Assist with unloading and loading tables/chairs, signage and other demonstration areas
- Work with vendors and demonstrators during vendor set up.
- Ensure vendors and animal exhibitors know where water/feed/supplies are and assist if needed.
- Vendor support during festival.
- General Vendor Hall support during the festival (ie. helping guide visitors, answering questions)
- Be onsite during the festival from Thursday – Saturday (not a vendor). Festival is located at the Red River Exhibition grounds in Headingley, MB. Festival takes place the weekend after Labour Day weekend in September.
- Be comfortable working with vendors (previous experience is not required)
- Willing to work with volunteers and Vendor Coordinator

Time Commitment:
Daytime, Evening, Weekend, Remote Volunteering. Prior to the Festival, most work is remote.
Assistant must be available to assist on site during set‑up for and duration of the Festival. These dates always commence the Thursday after Labour Day weekend in September through the Saturday after Labour Day weekend (Thursday set up, Friday event all day, Saturday event ending approximately 6 pm).
