The Department of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking a qualified individual for the Wildfire Service Branch to provide clerical support.

Duties:

Reporting to the Area Fire Manager and under the direction of the Financial Administrator, the incumbent is a point of contact for in person and telephone public inquiries and is responsible for processing invoices, attendance reports, budget tracking, two-way radio operation, and filing. Additional responsibilities include payroll and timekeeping, financial reporting and accounting functions such as coding invoices, and accepting payments from the public and wildfire deployments where clerical staff are required.

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • Experience performing clerical and administrative duties in an office environment such as data entry, preparing documents and processing highly complex detailed documentation and manual and electronic file maintenance.
  • Experience handling and reconciling revenue remittances including safe-keeping cash accounts.
  • Experience maintaining financial reports and ledgers including monthly balancing of financial accounts and reporting.
  • Experience preparing and entering payroll and timekeeping documents.
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience handling sensitive material in a confidential and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Similar Software Applications.
Desired:
  • Experience using SAP or other automated payroll/accounting system.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
