Overview
Head Secretary role at Winnipeg School Division. This is a full-time, 10-month term position in an Elementary School (Grade N-6).

Responsibilities- Under the direction of the principal, the School Secretary is responsible for the accounting/bookkeeping functions of the school, organizing the school office, school registrations and the day-to-day workflow.
- Provides secretarial support to the administrator, including handling confidential material.
- Performs all accounting and bookkeeping functions, according to Division policies and procedures.
- Completes reports such as Report of Staff Members, EA timesheets, etc., and compiles appropriate paperwork.
- Maintains student and employee absence reporting system and generates applicable reports.
- Maintains school inventory.
- Greets and screens visitors and appointments; answers all phone calls.
- Types, formats, and proofreads a variety of material including correspondence, minutes, agendas, policies, procedures, etc., from material provided by the school administrator.
- Organizes and prioritizes independently the administrative activities for the school administrator and school office, and ensures that all work is completed within established time frames.
- Takes initiative to handle matters and solve administrative problems not requiring the direct personal attention of the school administrator.
- Contacts parents, volunteers, community members, and organizations when necessary and appropriate.
- Completion of secondary education, 3 years of office experience and relevant coursework/training
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel at an intermediate level
- Accurate keyboarding of at least 40 words per minute
- Demonstrated bookkeeping/accounting knowledge
- Demonstrated experience with division software
- Ability to prioritize a large workload and work independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
