Bodine Electric Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Design Engineering team at our Northfield IL location. In this role, you will work on the design, development, and improvement of electric motors and motion control products used in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering efforts for motor and control design projects

• Design, develop, and modify new and existing motor products

• Test motors, gear motors, and motion control systems using a variety of lab and diagnostic equipment

• Evaluate customer applications and support application-specific solutions

• Prepare technical documentation and engineering reports

• Apply sound engineering judgment and initiative to meet project goals

• Follow company procedures, quality standards, and safety policies

• Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

• Perform other related engineering duties as needed

• Occasional travel may be required
Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field

• 1-4 years of experience in motor design or related engineering work preferred

• Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles

• Familiarity with motor types such as PMDC, PSC, split-phase, capacitor-start, 3-phase AC, and BLDC

• Knowledge of thermal and impedance protection, motor insulation systems, and motor testing methods

• Familiarity with motor components such as varnish, cables, connectors, and starting devices

• Understanding of safety and compliance standards (UL, CSA, CE)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Access, and Word)
