Job Summary
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems used in geothermal power plant operations. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance by ensuring accurate process measurement and control across wells, turbines, heat exchangers, cooling systems, and electrical generation equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot plant instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and vibration devices
- Maintain and troubleshoot control valves, actuators, and valve positioners
- Support PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems
- Assist with startup, shutdown, and outage activities
- Identify and resolve instrument, signal, and control issues
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as scheduled
- Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation
- Read diagrams and electrical schematics
- Follow all safety procedures including LOTO and confined space
- Travel up to 25% to site locations in Nevada
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 3 years of industrial instrumentation experience
- Working knowledge of instrument calibration and troubleshooting, control valves and actuators, electrical fundamentals (24 VDC, 120 VAC)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in power generation or geothermal facilities
- Familiarity with PLC or DCS platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, ABB, Emerson, etc.)
- Experience with vibration monitoring systems
- Technical degree or instrumentation certification
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work at heights
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in industrial environments with heat, noise, and rotating equipment
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and outages as required
