As our Senior Environmental Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading environmental permitting, compliance, and monitoring efforts. Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, assisting with current and proposed permitting activities, managing projects, preparing and submitting agency reports, supporting implementation of environmental management systems, providing training, and coordinating with surface, mill and underground mine departments. Your contributions will help ensure continued safe and environmentally responsible operations.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and model a strong environmental and safety culture across the organization
- Lead and manage all aspects of environmental programs, including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, and solid waste compliance
- Interpret environmental regulations, assess operational impacts, and implement effective compliance programs
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental strategies, plans, and procedures
- Prepare and submit required internal and external reports; interface with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Analyze and interpret site-wide water, wastewater, and stormwater data
- Manage reclamation activities and oversee contractors supporting abandoned mine land securement, invasive weed control, surveying, and meteorological stations
- Oversee monitoring well installation, testing, abandonment, and public water system modifications
- Lead special projects from initiation through completion, including
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant environmental experience, preferably in mining or industrial operations
- Strong project management, investigative, and planning skills
- Hydrologic experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in varied outdoor and remote field conditions
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
