Job Title: Lead Structural Field Engineer
- 5% Project Allowance.
- 5% Project Completion Incentive.
- 6 Weeks on, 2 week off.
- Camp Status.
- EWW - 57 hour work week.
- Mobilization/Demobilization Covered.
- Trips home covered.
Job Summary: In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.
Education and Experience Requirements- University/B.S degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
- 6-8 years minimum field civil/structural engineering experience.
- Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
- Contract management experience.
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
- Experience in mining and metals.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
- Must have experience with construction in all areas of concrete and steel structures.
- Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required.
- Complete training requirements assigned.
- Preparation of concrete and steel installation work packages.
- Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
- Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all civil/structural quantities.
- Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
- Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue.
- Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.
- Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
- Prepare material requisitions, coordinate and review vendor drawings.
- Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.
- Interpret design drawings.
- Complete Concrete material take-offs.
- Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
- Material receipt inspections as required.
- Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.
- Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
- Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.
