Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts in a critical access hospital requiring at least two years of travel experience and a KS or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a critical access hospital setting

• Night shifts with a schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00

• Patient ratio is 1:6

• Required to work every other weekend

• Travelers may be required to float to different units

• Locals are accepted at the same rate

• Expected to independently manage responsibilities after the second shift

• Holiday coverage may be required as scheduled

• First time travelers will not be considered for this position

• No charting system experience is specified or required

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration

• Minimum of two years of RN experience required

• Previous travel nursing experience is mandatory

• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS (CPI preferred)

• Experience in colostomy care, feeding tube care, renal failure, IV therapy including managing ports and central lines, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line management

• Ability to administer medications such as heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips (no titration)

• Skills in caring for patients with CVA and substance withdrawal, and managing respiratory interventions including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABGs, and oxygen delivery

• Experience with isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vacs
