Job Description

The RN Invasive Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities
  • A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who provides nursing care to patients undergoing procedures in the Interventional labs through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Develops, implements and updates an individualized plan of care based on identified patient care needs. Includes nursing, teaching, continuum of care and discharge planning.
  • Able to state rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking.
  • Assesses, analyzes, validates and integrates data to assess patients' physical psychosocial, rehab, safety, learning, spiritual, cultural, age-specific, special risk and self-care needs. Identifies patient care needs, problems and variances.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Performs all aspects of invasive lab procedure process including but not limited to:
    Set-up, patient preparation, procedures, supply management, and room turnover. Assists with procedure room stocking and informs inventory designee with supplies need reordering in a timely manner to prevent supply outage.
  • Performs routine procedures including: patient vital signs, specimen collection / handling, and 12 lead EKG testing.
  • Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
  • Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan, focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communications with patients, families, and others.
  • Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
  • Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
  • Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Current experience (within past five years or new nursing graduate (within past two years).
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • CPR – Basic Life Support

Preferred:

  • Preferred one year's experience in pertinent clinical specialty.
  • Will consider RN with Strong ICU/ER background.
