The Clinical Practice Specialist reflects the mission, vision and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Clinical Practice Specialist leads efforts to ensure quality clinical practice and professional development at the front line. Areas of responsibility for this role include noninvasive cardiology, diagnostic imaging, procedural IR, and OPIC.

• Quality:
  • Develop and implement education opportunities ունեն staff identified through needs assessments, departmental and system goals and new/expanded clinical programs.
  • Support staff to seek and maintain specialty certification, including monitoring progress and completion.

  • Monitor and trend quality report data with the operational manager for clinical quality/safety issues and develop associated action plans as needed.
  • Lead or facilitate inter‑professional teams for unit/division‑based and house‑wide clinical process improvement.
• Culture of Safety:
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate division‑specific learning activities to improve safety (e.g., simulations with Professional Practice and Development team members).
  • Review and update unit‑based clinical policy and procedures.
  • Provide input into staff evaluations related to clinical competence (quality and practice).
  • Round on unit with the intention of coaching and mentoring.
  • Identify gaps in staff knowledge and skills and remediate.
  • Participate in the Staff RN Peer Review process.
• Evidence‑Based Practice / Research:
  • Identify opportunities, mentor, and implement EBP projects, including unit/division order sets and practice guidelines.
  • Identify, mentor, and/or participate in nursing or inter‑professional clinical research projects.
  • Assist in interpreting research findings and develop strategies for implementing results into evidence‑based clinical practice guidelines.
• Shared Leadership:
  • Attend unit‑based staff, shared leadership, and Clinical Nurse Leadership Council meetings.
  • Attend unit leadership (LDOC) meetings.
  • Participate in off‑unit committees or project teams as appropriate.
• Fiscal Stewardship:
  • Evaluate new products to recommend to the value‑based purchasing committee.
  • Recommend improvements in clinical efficiency with the operational manager.
  • Use organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
  • Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
• Annual Competency / Orientation / Retention:
  • Lead content review and revision for unit‑based orientation annually.
  • Actively participate in new employee orientation (PCS orientation and unit‑based orientation).
  • Monitor new hire goal progress and conduct touch‑points/check‑ins.
  • Utilize internal/external resources to develop and implement the unit’s annual competency and education plan and maintain completion records.
  • Collaborate with the unit manager to evaluate ongoing progress toward staff completion of the education plan.
• Education:
  • Provide informal eventually based unit education based on unit learning needs assessments.
  术 Provide formal classroom instruction and skills assessments, including competency assessment.
• Enhance educational offerings by incorporating components of the NM Toolkit (Safety, Service, and Leadership), NMI Diversity and Inclusion Resources, and NM Values in Action.
• Maintain visibility on all shifts('$) and serve as a resource to off‑shift staff.
