About the role
As a Lead Node.js Developer
, you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable backend solutions that power critical applications. You will be a valued member of our Technology & Engineering team and collaborate closely with front-end developers, Dev Ops, and product teams to deliver high-quality, end-to-end solutions.
- Develop and maintain server-side logic using Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS.
- Design and implement RESTful and Graph
QL APIs to support application functionality. - Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance system capabilities.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and security across environments.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes while troubleshooting production issues.
This is a hybrid position based in Windsor, Connecticut
, requiring 2–3 days per week in the office

- 10+ years of experience in backend development with Node.js.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Type Script.
- Hands‑on experience with Express.js, NestJS, or similar frameworks.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, Graph
QL, and Web Sockets. - Experience with Mongo
DB, Postgre
SQL, or other relational/non‑relational databases. - Familiarity with authentication and authorization mechanisms (JWT, OAuth).
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Expertise in building highly scalable and secure enterprise applications.
- Experience with microservices architecture and event‑driven systems.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and best practices.
- Contributions to open‑source projects or active participation in developer communities.

Salary and Other CompensationApplications will be accepted until January 30th, 2026

The annual salary for this position is between $99,000 - $117,000
, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
