About the Programs

Mills House
Mills House is a community-based group home which provides 24 hour staffing and a built-in therapeutic component for 5 boys aged 14-21 who have experienced serious emotional and behavioral problems, and who have lived in more restrictive programs or institutions. The home allows the boys to live in a more familial, natural setting within the community. The program emphasizes maximizing each boy s ability to develop skills for living successfully outside of an institutional setting through participation in normative community activities.

Brook House
A community-based group home that provides 24 hour staffing and a built-in therapeutic component for 5 girls, aged 13-18 who have experienced trauma and loss, who have serious emotional and behavioral problems and who have lived in more restrictive programs or institutions. Brook House allows the girls to live in a more normal, natural setting within a community, while providing a high level of support and structure.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency in age related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served.
  • Develops and provides group therapy and psycho-educational groups designed to aid clients in understanding and maintaining their medications and side effects and to improve skills in living a healthy lifestyle.
  • Provides crisis assessment and intervention to monitor status of clients in crisis.
  • Provides home or outreach visits when appropriate.
  • Maintains first aid supplies, disposal of hazardous waste, and destruction of medications and management of medication administration program as applicable according to agency policy.
  • Monitors the Medication Administration Program, medications, and physician’s orders.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a School of Nursing and RN Licensure. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: Experience with mental health population. Experience working in a managed care environment.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: RN license to practice in State of CT. CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months of hire.

Compensation

Starting at $49,686 minimum, and up commensurate upon experience. Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience and adherence to internal equity policy. Some positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. For part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked.
