Position: Tree House Group Leader (Before and After School Program)

Purpose of Position

Our School-Based Treehouse Before Care and After School Program will support our WPS students with intentional academic enrichment and recreational programming. The Tree House Group Leader will provide academic enrichments in a disguised learning atmosphere, be responsive to the social emotional needs of students and loves to have fun. The Group Leader for The Tree House program shall add value and implement age appropriate and safe programming for all students enrolled.

Responsibilities
  • Arrive on-time and report to your designated supervisor upon arrival and departure
  • Implement enrichment and recreational activities as assigned to you by your direct supervisor
  • Plan recreational activities as well as Fun Fridays
  • Maintain a firm, yet safe and positive environment for students
  • Be responsible for student groups, as assigned
  • Care and properly store of all equipment and supplies
  • Set a good example by respecting rules, showing respect and dressing appropriately
  • Plan, attend and assist with special events
  • Assist with cleaning of classroom space, bathrooms and school grounds
  • Attend all staff meetings including brief/debrief and meetings held once a month for 1 hour and trainings
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Program Leader
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Must have experience working with children or passion to work with children
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Education:

    High School Diploma Preferred and/or Courses in Child Development/Early Childhood Education
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to visibly observe children
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and transport equipment from one location to another
  • Ability to demonstrate and lead activities
  • Ability to communicate with parents and children effectively
  • Ability to hear distress signals even when distracted by noise and activity
  • Ability to reason, solve problems and make sound decisions even when distracted by noise and activity
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat and humidity
  • Observe and promote safety and security procedures
  • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies

Work Schedule
  • Workday Shift: Monday to Friday; 7am to 8:30am/9am; 2:45pm/3:15pm-6pm (split shift schedule);
    Saturdays only if trainings or Field Trips are scheduled
  • School Year:
    August 25 - June 8 (Dependent Upon Snow Make Up Days)
  • The Group Leader shall work up to a maximum of 29 hours per week and depends on needs of program
  • 15 minute meetings before and after your daily shift
  • One-hour staff meetings will be held each month, as assigned by Program Leader
  • Workday schedules for school breaks, vacations, early release and snow days vary based on need with a max of hours daily

Monday - Friday, 7am-8:30/9am; 3/3:25pm-6pm
