The State of Connecticut, Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS), is seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Secretary 2 to support the day‑to‑day operations of our team at the Bureau of Services for Persons Who Are Deaf, Deaf Blind, and Hard of Hearing. This position requires proven experience in a secretarial role, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. A key part of this position is to serve as a communication bridge by professionally and effectively communicating in both sign language (ASL) and English.

- Facilitate seamless communication between staff and external stakeholders using your professional fluency in both ASL and English.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the efficient and smooth day‑to‑day operations of the office.
- Draft, edit, and proofread a wide range of written materials, including reports, meeting minutes, and professional correspondence.
- Organize and manage meetings, schedules, and various office procedures to support the team's mission and goals.
The Mission of the Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS) is to maximize opportunities for the independence and well‑being of people with disabilities and older adults in Connecticut. Our programs, policies and practices are designed to:
- Deliver aging and disability services responsive to the needs of Connecticut citizens.
- Provide leadership on aging and disability issues statewide.
- Provide and coordinate aging and disability programs and services in the areas of employment, education, independent living, accessibility and advocacy.
- Advocate for the rights of Connecticut residents with disabilities and older adults.
- Serve as a resource on aging and disability issues at the state level.
The Bureau of Services for Persons Who Are Deaf,’da Deaf Blind, and Hard of Hearing is a vital office within ADS. Its central mission is to empower individuals who are deaf, Deaf Blind, and hard of hearing, ensuring they have the support and tools needed to live full and independent lives. The Bureau works to break down communication barriers by managing a list of qualified interpreters, connecting individuals with essential resources, and providing training to the public and state workers to improve accessibility.
