Sr Accountant

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruitment has partnered with a mission-driven organization in Hartford County to identify a seasoned Senior Accountant. This role supports full-cycle accounting operations, GAAP-compliant financial reporting, audit preparation, and grant-related fiscal oversight within a values-driven environment.

• Prepare and post month-end and year-end journal entries, allocations, and accruals in accordance with GAAP
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain integrity of the general ledger
• Support daily cash activity, internal transfers, and cash flow projections
• Assist in annual budget development and monthly variance analysis
• Prepare audit work papers and respond to auditor requests
• Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvements
• Support federal indirect cost rate calculations and cost allocation methodologies
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making

• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit readiness
• Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and grant compliance preferred
• Ability to maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices
• High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
• Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Continuous improvement mindset with systems proficiency (ERP experience preferred)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
• 10+ years of accounting experience in financial reporting, auditing, or bookkeeping
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and government accounting principles
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Nonprofit accounting experience (federal, state, or foundation grants)
