Accounting Associate
Location: Windsor, CT
Compensation: $25-$27/hour
Position Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Full-Time
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our Accounting team in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. This role reports directly to the Controller and supports accounts payable, journal entries, general ledger reporting, weekly check runs, month-end close, accounts receivable coverage, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & General Accounting
  • Maintain and process accounts payable transactions
  • Post vendor invoices in GL system and internal sales systems
  • Analyze and apply available vendor discounts
  • Issue weekly check runs accurately and timely
  • Track and apply prepaid expenses to appropriate GL periods
  • Support month-end close, ensuring all charge and credit invoices are received and accounted for
  • Reconcile report balances to ensure accurate posting to the General Ledger
  • Generate charge journals and payment journals
  • Assist with 1099 preparation and distribution
Accounts Receivable & Banking Support
  • Provide basic AR support during team absences
  • Generate charge/cash receipt journals
  • Maintain accurate daily GL account balances
Vendor Relations
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoice and statement discrepancies
  • Obtain missing invoices to ensure proper documentation
  • Maintain organized AP files and supporting documentation
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Business preferred (or equivalent accounting experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
  • Prior accounts payable and vendor interaction experience required
  • Valid Driver's License required
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Basic accounting knowledge and ability to reconcile reports
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills
