As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be on a mission to develop, test, and prove compliance to the certification authorities that our products are safe, reliable, and airworthy!

As a Principal Software Engineer at Collins Aerospace, you are supporting the development of state-of-the-art flight critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation applications. You are a member of the engineering team responsible for the design, development, and verification of real-time embedded software. • You will do Software Design, Development, and Verification Tasks
• You will manage translation of customer requirements into software requirements
• You will coordinate tasks
• You will review software requirements to ensure compliance with customer requirements
• You will manage implementation of software requirements using design models (flow diagrams) and/or software code (proprietary language)
• You will review of software design and code to ensure compliance with software requirements
• You will generate, run, and review test scripts and data to support software verification test activities
• You will generate documents to support aerospace certification

• You will learn how to be a credible software engineer and gain niche skills in the aerospace industry, enabling you to be unique in all you do.
• You will help to expand our software engineering team to allow us to better focus on customer satisfaction related to quality, schedule, process, and cost.
• You can help us improve our Customer Focus and help us to Drive Results! You will support software certifications of military and commercial aircrafts, support customer investigations, and troubleshoot deficiencies in existing software applications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

• Experience developing software architecture in an embedded software environment.
• Full life-cycle software development experience.
• Experience with DO-178 (Level
  
  A) or similar military standards
• Experience managing projects and tasks across functional teams and geographic locations
• Experience with software verification testing
• C, Assembly, and/or Python programming experience preferred
• Experience using logic analyzers and other lab test equipment
