  • Constant alertness; must be able to complete multiple tasks correctly and simultaneously.

  • Must possess a minimum corrected vision of 20/40. Vision to be checked every 2 years with records to reside in the Medical Dept.
  • Must strictly adhere to on-call responsibilities.
  • Occasionally, must be able to work up to 12 consecutive days with little advanced notification.
  • Responsible for own work and work area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to frequently work in wet environments.
  • Accurately record electronically or manually the actual usage of all raw materials and chemicals used.
  • Assist in paper machine wash-ups, clothing changes and daily machine cleaning after breaks or shutdowns including physical moving, bending and/or lifting during those procedures.
  • Assist Pulper Operator in locating, transporting and handling of raw materials and /or chemicals up to and including opening and stacking wood and staging fiber.
  • Complies with all Lock-Out/Tag-Out and Confined Space procedures.
  • Identify and immediately report any unsafe act, condition or potential hazard to Supervisor or responsible personnel.
  • Locate, transport by using a powered lift truck and track ordered raw materials and/or chemicals from inventory by inventory lot or r for use in pulp and/or chemical formulations.
  • Must be able to accept direction from multiple sources of authority.
  • Must be able to prepare chemical formulations in accordance with written instructions. Must be able to work in sequence using many components with a high degree of accuracy. Must be able to physically transport and handle chemicals and raw materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a sufficient level of agility for climbing catwalks, working around moving machinery with hot surfaces, and working in areas with slippery surfaces.
  • Observe the conditions of and quarantine if necessary any unacceptable or questionable raw materials and/or chemicals used in the manufacturing process and communication thereof to Supervisor.
  • Understand the area that is assigned for housekeeping responsibility and the level of cleanliness that is expected in that area.
  • Understands and complies with general, departmental and job specific safety rules, as well as the Site Safety plan at Ahlstrom.
  • Understands and complies with Mill Environmental guidelines, as well as federal and state mandated RCRA Waste Handling and Recycling Procedures.
