GL Accountant

Purpose of the Job

To support daily, weekly and monthly activities in SAP, HFM and various aspects of accounting in North America including general ledger accounting, monthly and quarterly closings, financial reporting, light tax reporting and other service center activities as needed.

• Prepare various journal entries as required for monthly and quarterly closings for all entities in North America as needed.
• Perform account reconciliations to assist closing of general ledger on a monthly basis and other identified account analyses.
• Perform SAP technical activities as required, i.e., monthly and yearly closing maintenance.
• File monthly sales & use tax for relevant states.
• Assist with intercompany payables and receivables with multiple companies, including monthly payments and quarterly reconciliation.
• Perform fixed asset accounting in SAP, including the reconciliation of assets under construction by project along with associated fixed asset and depreciation accounts, monthly depreciation and capitalization of assets.
• Prepares weekly invoicing for sales of scrap, consumption, administrative & ad hoc invoicing.
• Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.

Internally

Communicates within the Service Center organization in the US and Group Controlling.

Externally

Interact with the Group assigned accounting firm for tax, book and internal audit as necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Previous experience in accounting related functions preferred and a plus in manufacturing.
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with management as required.
• Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize workload.
• Ability to make decisions in absence of supervision within the field of expertise.
• Strong Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
• SAP and/or ERP system experience preferred.
• Experience level of 3 years or less in accounting related position (Staff level accountant, AR accountant, AP accountant).
