Job Purpose & Summary

Within our retail locations, our Staff Pharmacists play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence, serving as a role model for the pharmacy team, and ensuring safe, patient‑centered care.

  • Manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizations.
  • Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy on bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through effective coaching.
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Maintain prescription accuracy by following workflow procedures and ensuring staff compliance with safety guardrails.
  • Enhance patient experience through empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to provide compassionate care.
  • Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization skills.
  • Manage inventory best practices, with a focus on protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and support the Pharmacy Manager with schedule creation.
  • Stay updated on clinical and technical skills, pursuing company‑required trainings and CMEs.
  • Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing where permissible.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies for patient safety and workplace inclusivity.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • _SCALE_on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Regular & predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus
    • Concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly to meet patient needs.
    • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.
  • Customer Service & Team Orientation
    • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
    • Notice and respond to patient reactions appropriately.
  • Communication Skills
    • Use verbal & written communication with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening, asking questions, and avoiding interruptions.
  • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Use math to solve dispensing problems such as determining tablet  quantity.
  • Issue Resolution
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best solution among options.
  • Physical Demands
    • Remain mobile and upright for extended periods.
    • Lift, scan, and bag items up to 20 lbs. as necessary.
    • Reach overhead and perform fine motor tasks with hands.
    • Maintain visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and reading small parts.
  • Additional Tasks – any tasks directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑2 years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.

40 hours per week

Time Type:
Full time

Pay Range

$60.00 – $76.00 per hour. The actual base salary will depend on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
