Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Winchester, Virginia.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
  • Schedule:

    Monday through Friday, Weekends OFF
  • Hours:

    Second Shift 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • All other certification as required by location required
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support)
  • SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location (predominant OEM of fleet mix completed within 365 days)
