Must be available to work one 12-hour day shift and one 12‑hour night shift per week, with weekend availability required.

CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA) – Position SummaryThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a member of the interdisciplinary team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient’s personal needs and promote comfort. The CNA is responsible for observing the patient, reporting observations to the RN, and documenting care.
CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)– Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides personal care tasks, as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
- Takes and records oral, rectal, and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency.
- Provides proper care and observation of the patient’s skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominence.
- Reports on patients’ condition and significant changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists in ambulation and exercise as assigned by a Registered Nurse.
- Offers and assists with bedpans and urinals. May help with light laundry needs.
- Keeps patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned.
- Adheres to the organization’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
- Participates in personal, professional growth and development; also participates in quality assessment, performance improvement and IDT meetings.
- Respects the patient and family/caregiver environment and the patient’s personal needs.
- Performs personal care needs after given a patient’s assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly; reports to the RN if unable to perform a certain task.
- Meets safety needs of patient and uses equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2, etc.).
- Respects confidentiality and privacy of all patients,ייע caregivers, and fellow team members, communicating in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Minimizes non‑productive time and fills periods of low census or slow periods with activities and cross‑training to meet the future needs of the organization.
- Seeks opportunities for professional growth, including receiving constructive performance feedback. Attends at least twelve (12) hours of continuing education programs per calendar year.
- Currently licensed in VA as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- High School Diploma strongly preferred.
- Self‑directed with the ability to work with littleଣ supervision; appears calm and secure with issues of death/dying.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
