Schedule: this position will require approximately 6-10 hours per week
Essential Job Functions- Conducts admission file reviews for the organization
- Provides admission and/or annual physicals
- Provides same-day visits for sick clients
- Identifies need for, initiates, and coordinates referrals for specialty consultations;
Coordinates follow-up with external medical specialists - Medication Evaluation and Review – Assess clients to determine if pharmacotherapy is warranted. Prescribe appropriate medication for client condition, conduct periodic medication review to monitor medication effectiveness and possible side effects, adjust medication regime according to client needs
- Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory studies, x-rays, electrocardiograms, and other special examinations/testing to identify and assess client’s clinical problems and health care needs
- Discuss clients with supervising physician, as scheduled
- Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings as needed to consult with the treatment team about the course of treatment. Participates with regional team in providing leadership on treatment issues
- Documents client files, records physical findings, and formulates plan of care based on client’s condition
- Signs verbal orders within 24 hours of giving the order; communicates any concerns about the procedure with the assigned treatment team
- Counsels and advisors clients and families about physical, developmental, and psychosocial aspects of health through individual and group contacts to promote optimal health
- Contributes to the health education of individuals and groups and applies methods designed to increase each person’s motivation to assume responsibility for his/her own healthcare.
- Model a positive/professional leadership attitude when dealing with others in a day-to-day work situation
- Participates as an active member of the Medical Committee
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Requires a Master’s degree in nursing
- Minimum five years' of experience in the field
- Must hold a valid Virginia license as issued by the Boards of Nursing and Medicine
- Must be independently licensed for autonomous practice
