Duties And ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Plant Engineer, the Tool & Die’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform operations including turning, facing, threading, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, milling, grinding, knurling, rolling, cutting, etc., on any material to exact tolerances and micro‑finish.
- Design, machine, troubleshoot, and assemble special tooling into production dies.
- Perform work that requires a thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices, material properties, and principles of operation for various tools, jigs, fixtures, and dies.
- Make repairs or alterations to end and can dies, including manufacturing replacement parts as needed, using hard‑enamed tool steel and carbide.
- Use precision measuring instruments to assemble, fit, align, and adjust parts to exact tolerances.
- Check tooling inventories, set up tool packs, measure precision tolerances, and work with assembly set‑ups.
- Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials required and machines to fabricate parts.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and other equipment to machine parts.
- Interact closely with the operations team to plan, troubleshoot, and analyze production and equipment issues and concerns and develop solutions.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Exhibits safety and quality as top priority.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, both independently and as a team player.
- Cross training/multi‑skilling in other functions is a basic expectation.
- Detail oriented and very accurate.
- Flexible to work any shift and overtime as required.
- Problem‑solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Excellent time‑management skills and multi‑tasking.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, and may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs/platforms.
