Plant Superintendent

Overview

Relate Search has partnered with a global packaging manufacturer in the search for a Plant Superintendent to support operations at their Winchester, Virginia manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent will play a hands-on leadership role across daily plant operations, production execution, and workforce management. This position will oversee production personnel, methods, standards, and equipment capabilities, while partnering cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, procurement, safety, and quality teams to drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Support the Plant Manager in all aspects of daily plant operations and assume full plant leadership responsibilities when acting in their absence.
• Plan, direct, and prioritize high-volume production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Coordinate production efforts with maintenance, engineering, procurement, production planning, safety, and quality teams to maximize labor and equipment utilization.
• Analyze production performance and non-conformities, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve output, efficiency, and product quality.
• Lead, manage, and develop direct reports while effectively communicating schedule changes, process updates, and performance expectations across all shifts.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a related field. Master’s degree a plus
• 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Background in high-volume manufacturing environments; packaging industry experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both hourly teams and senior leadership.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and Gemba walks; union environment experience a plus but not required.
