Job Summary- Coordinate laboratory activities on shift to meet business objectives.

- Hold employees accountable for delivering accurate results and demonstrating consistent behaviors aligned with company policy.
- Keep your team informed; ensure effective written and verbal communication.
- Partner with other functions to coordinate required lab tasks and prioritize lab resources to meet plant needs.
- Keep other leaders on shift, and across shifts where appropriate, informed on lab findings, results, and any actions required.
- Ensure effective employee relations and champion a positive work environment among shift employees. Provide employee coaching, corrective action and development.
- Make employment decisions and resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
- Provide direct leadership to the Lab Coordinator and Batch Verification Technician.
- Uphold regulatory compliance requirements throughout facility.
- Possess knowledge of internal, regulatory and third‑party audit and inspection requirements.
- Have solid knowledge of quality programs and SOPs; perform a variety of analytical and physical test methods, record data, write report summaries and make science‑based decisions, including product disposition recommendations based on existing standards.
- Navigate priorities of people safety, food safety, quality, productivity and cost in managing the shift and making appropriate situational decisions.
- Bias for action to drive continuous improvement.
- Remain engaged and involved to react effectively to shifting priorities.
- Lead groups in the identification and resolution of root cause when solving problems.
- Strictly adhere to Corporate and/or Plant Policies, rules, and regulations.
- Assist in the training and development of laboratory employees and ensure they comply with all SOPs, procedures, and good laboratory practices.
- Actively engage in ensuring shift compliance with GMPs, housekeeping, sanitation standards and product handling.
- Ensure shift is covered due to vacation or unannounced absenteeism, including leadership.
- Provide visible safety leadership by investigating incidents thoroughly, participating in formal events, and monitoring compliance.
- Plan and direct lab activities on shift and effectively communicate and monitor priorities to achieve plan.
- Lead continuous‑improvement activities consistent with plant approach.
- Work effectively in collaboration with other Lab Shift Managers to maintain standardization across shifts and drive continuous improvements to success.
- Other duties as directed or as required by business needs.
- 4‑year degree in a related science field of study (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology preferred) or 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Analytical problem‑solving; synthesizes complex or diverse information for science‑based decision making.
- Computer knowledge is essential.
