Overview

Shenandoah University’s School of Nursing is accepting applications for a Simulation Assistant. This is a part-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia with occasional travel to the Loudoun Campus in Leesburg, VA.

Responsibilities

Standardized Patient (SP) Program Coordination:

  • Logistics & Scheduling:
    Create, manage, and maintain comprehensive SP program schedules. Coordinate SP bookings, including availability requests, confirmations, and training session scheduling.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    Identify and recruit SPs based on specific case criteria and demographics. Lead the orientation and onboarding process for new participants.
  • Training & Development:
    Design and deliver training to SPs in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Provide oversight and monitoring of SPs to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Database Management:
    Maintain an accurate SP database, including demographic information and participation history.

School of Nursing Simulation Administrative Operations:

  • Calendar & Maintenance:
    Support maintaining the Simulation Calendar and coordinate with vendors to schedule and manage warranties and maintenance of manikins.
  • Financial Documentation:
    Demonstrate responsibility for all SP payments and related documentation; maintain concise, accurate record-keeping.
  • Inventory Management:
    Coordinate supplies and maintain inventory for the Simulation Suite in collaboration with the Director.
  • Reporting:
    Responsible for compiling annual reports and annual reviews of all scenarios.
  • Engagement:
    Provide simulation suite tours in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Simulation, the Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing, Admissions, and OMC.
  • Development:
    Assist in scenario production, aligning with best practices and collaborating with the Director of Clinical Simulation.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate work that reflects the mission, vision, and philosophy of the University and SON
  • Strong detail-oriented skills
  • Demonstrate work that reflects mature, professional, goal-oriented actions with flexibility
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience with Gmail, Google, Canvas Organizations, and Spreadsheets preferred
  • Ability to adapt hours to meet the needs of specific simulation events and training sessions
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to assist in the setup of simulation environments and travel between campus locations
  • Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally assist in moving much heavier items, such as 250-pound manikins, often with the help of others
