As a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), the employee supports the overall Mission and Vision of Valley Health by providing high-quality, best-practice services to its customers. The LPTA may work in the Home Health setting and, under the supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist, supports treatment addressing the skilled and medically necessary needs of patients. The role involves implementing therapist-guided interventions to improve safety and functional independence, providing critical feedback for patient progression, and maintaining discipline-specific competence through ongoing education.
The LPTA is responsible for timely, efficient rehabilitation services, adhering to licensure, documentation, and billing guidelines.
The agency relies heavily on technology; email and electronic documentation are primary communication tools. The patient population varies widely across acuity, age, and diagnosis.
The employee maintains current knowledge and supports departmental, hospital, and organizational initiatives, staying current with communication channels professionally and promptly.
Education- Associates degree in Physical Therapy Assistant required
- CNA or equivalent training preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant nursing experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing case management experience required, preferably with patients over age 65
- Virginia/West Virginia licensure or transitional license at hire (PT, OT) required
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider) required
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Basic computer skills or participation in computer training within the first year
- Ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages, adhering to age-specific competencies
- Proficiency in discipline-specific interventions
