An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking to recruit a Band 7 Social Worker to join our dynamic CAMHS Inpatient Team (GAU) in Winchester. Working at the heart of acute mental health care for young people, the role sits at the intersection of mental health, safeguarding, risk management, systemic practice and discharge planning. In a fast paced multidisciplinary setting through a trauma informed approach.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping safe admissions, discharge planning, making a real difference to young people and families at critical moments in their lives, whilst developing specialist inpatient CAMHS expertise.

Main duties of the job

To provide a social work service to the children/young people (age 12
-18 years) and their families at Serenity Path Hospital (General Adolescent Unit) CAMHS in-patient service.

To manage a caseload (approx. 10 children/young people) of highly complex cases, including supporting the Young People and their families whom attend Blake Eating disorder Day service.

To provide advice and guidance to other staff within the organisation and external agencies

To participate in staff/student training and development

To work in partnership with patients, carers, relatives and community agencies to identify current and future service requirements and contribute to service development within the scope of the role

As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team undertake comprehensive assessments of the social care, mental health and risk management needs of children and young people, their families and carers.

As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team facilitate safe and appropriate discharge pathways for the children/young people by co-ordinating the discharge process

Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and Corporate Safeguarding Team to respond to and manage Safeguarding Concerns within the unit

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Social Work qualification such as Diploma or Degree in Social Work
  • Professional registration with Social Work England.
  • Meeting the standards set out by Social Work England.
  • Further specialist knowledge and qualifications in mental health, youth offending and/or childrens legislation and working practices
Experience
  • Experience of working with children and young people using mental health services who present with complex needs
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of mental health, criminal justice and childrens legislation and working practices
  • In depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Childrens Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Knowledge and experience of First Tier Tribunals (Mental Health) and report writing
  • Experience of working with commissioners and social care providers
