Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory

Job Overview

The Shenandoah Conservatory at Shenandoah University is searching for an instructor who can teach online music theory courses to upper-level undergraduates as well as graduate students. At the undergraduate level, the conservatory offers a range of bachelor’s programs including performance, music education, music production and recording technology, and music therapy. Its graduate programs include master’s and doctoral degrees in performance, conducting, voice pedagogy, music education, and composition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality online instruction in music theory for the upcoming 2026-27 Academic Year. Teaching is recognized as the most important faculty activity at Shenandoah University, and we seek faculty members who focus on individual student learning styles and motivations.

• Education:
  
  A doctorate in music theory or composition is required.
• Experience:
  
  Experience teaching in online synchronous settings is required.

Rate and rank will be negotiated at the time of hire.
