Shenandoah University’s School of Health Professions invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the Division of Counselor Education. This full‑time, tenure‑track position will be based on our Winchester, VA campus.

The School of Health Professions provides innovative educational opportunities that prepare graduates to transform healthcare through compassionate, evidence‑based care, advocacy, cultural sensitivity, interprofessional collaboration, lifelong learning, and service. The Division of Counselor Education trains ethical, compassionate counselors who practice cultural humility, with a focus on social justice, community service, and work with underserved populations.
Position SummaryThis is a 12‑month core faculty position. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Music Therapy and Professional Counseling programs. Responsibilities include maintaining a teaching load, advising students, developing and assessing programs, and engaging in division and university service, professional service, research, and leadership/advocacy.
Responsibilities- Teach and develop courses in relevant counseling programs.
- Advising students throughout their program.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
- Engage in division, university, and professional service.
- Conduct research and foster a research agenda.
- Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or grandfathered in.
- License or license‑eligible in Virginia (LPC or School Counseling).
- Preferred
- Experience as a school counselor.
- Approved Clinical Supervisor certification.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience.
- Evidence of successful supervision experience.
Evidence of a research agenda.
