Job Title: Handyperson / Escort / Fabric Operative

Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester. SO22 5DF

Salary: £30,075.65 per annum (including £3.5k RRA)

Contract: Permanent – 39 hrs per week – Mon‑Fri

• Support the smooth and safe operation of HMP Winchester as part of the Facilities Maintenance Team.
• Collaborate with experienced colleagues—plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators—towards a secure environment.
• Perform tasks related to gate operation, visitor escort, and building fabric maintenance within the prison setting.
• Use hand and power tools to conduct maintenance work that supports all prisoners, staff and visitors.

• Experience in a prison environment.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Previous experience within a building fabric / Hard FM environment.
• Up‑to‑date First Aid at Work qualification.
• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Good health & safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills.
