We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Winchester, a category B remand prison based in Winchester, Hampshire. The prison houses around 706 patients. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, focused on receptions and supporting the new intake of patients. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including SMS prescriber, ACP and other GPs.
Hours- Wednesday 6pm-10pm
- Saturday 1pm-6pm
This position is part-time. You will receive an annual salary up to £131,157 per annum FTE depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks
Main dutiesAs a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management
- Prescribe for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with, having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate in line with guidelines and pathways, including prescribing for patients and monitoring medications

You will gain insight into Mental Health and Substance Misuse, as well as the opportunity to work towards your RCGP level 2.

Qualifications- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these
