Overview
We are seeking 2 or 3 Support Workers to support a lovely family who live near Marwell Zoo, between Winchester and Eastleigh. This role involves working with Lara, who has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair. The role includes weekend and holiday support with opportunities to engage in a variety of activities.
LocationSO21, Hampshire (between Eastleigh and Winchester). Fully adapted family home with a separate Support Worker annexe for overnight stays.
Hours and Scheduling- Live-in Support Worker: 10:00 Saturday – 10:00 Monday. Hours can be shared among more than one person and could include every other weekend.
- School Holiday Support Worker:
Weekdays in school holidays from 08:00–18:00, Monday to Friday (hours may vary depending on activities). - Bank hours also available.
- £15.00 per hour on Weekdays (Days).
- £16.00 per hour on Weekends (Days).
- National Living Wage/National Minimum Wage per hour for Sleeping Nights when required.
- Ongoing training & support provided.
- 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata.
- Pension (subject to qualifying status).
- Sick leave entitlement.
- Free DBS check.
- Driver required? Essential (own car to get to work).
- Driving Client’s car? Yes — a wheelchair-adapted vehicle (WAV), automatic; you must be confident to drive the client’s accessible vehicle.
- Using own vehicle for work purposes? Essential to get to work due to limited public transport.
- Provide support to Lara in a variety of activities including blogging, vlogging, videos, hair and beauty activities, outings, meals, baking and cooking, arts and crafts.
- Support with physical care needs related to cerebral palsy, including manual handling and transfers using a ceiling track hoist (CTH).
- Promote Lara’s independence, safety, and well-being during weekends and school holidays.
- Essential:
Complex manual handling experience; ability to support a young person with physical disabilities; good sense of humour. - Desirable:
Experience working with young people with expressive speech difficulties; experience with a variety of equipment. - Proof of eligibility to work in the UK; satisfactory references (including last employer); enhanced DBS certificate. A conviction will not necessarily prevent employment.
