Job DescriptionWe are looking for somebody to join the business to assist with the planning, design and effective delivery of projects from initial customer consultation and tender through to project completion. We work with a range of clients, private, agencies, trusts & local authorities. The successful applicant will be expected to become an important part of a small business in its development and successful project delivery.
We will take a flexible view of the experience of the candidate and the position could suit a graduate looking to extend their experience, or a more experienced person looking to become part of something rather than just another number. Extensive training and experience will be provided as necessary. The role demands technical skill, relative fitness, attention to detail and a positive attitude towards site and environmental safety.
The business is based in the Winchester area but you will be expected to largely work remotely from home, other than on‑site survey works, project meetings etc. You may be expected to travel and stay away when project locations dictate. You will be expected to adhere to site health and safety and environmental safety standards. You will receive ongoing training and development in all tasks with great opportunity for development and progression.
Work is varied and interesting with completed projects providing fantastic job satisfaction and a real sense of achievement within a small team.
40-hour standard week. This is a full-time position, but we can offer a flexible approach where possible to working hours.
KeyResponsibilities & Requirements:
- Commercial awareness and an ability to work collaboratively with project teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Background data and site information searches.
- Production of reports, drawings & proposals for clients and applications & consents.
- An existing working knowledge of river restoration, hydromorphology, ecology etc.
- Competent use of GIS, CAD, Sketchup, Vectorworks or similar or the ability to learn.
- Production of work plans and method statements and supervision of projects.
- Site surveys and topographical surveys.
- Use of GIS, CAD, Sketchup, Vectorworks or similar or the ability to learn.
- Cost estimates, bills of quantities and aspects of project management.
- Be willing to learn and engage fully with project delivery and other team members.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with the business and your aims.
- Travel to various project sites as needed.
- Polite and reasonably fit.
- Effective communicator to be able to deal with clients, agencies, public and authorities.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
- Valid UK driver’s license.
- Environmental engineering, environmental science based qualification or CPD qualifications.
- Experience in river and wetland restoration, construction, working in and around water and pond and lake construction.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- First aid training.
