Position: SEN LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Overview

Our client, a highly regarded educational institution in Winchester, Hampshire, is currently seeking a full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their dynamic and supportive team.

In this role, you will work alongside a dedicated team of educators, therapists, and support staff to deliver personalised, compassionate, and effective support to students with a wide range of SEN, including autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in the planning and delivery of lessons, adapting resources and strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support to help students with SEN achieve their learning goals
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, contributing to the development of individual education plans
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEN support
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs, including autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and families
  • Proven experience in a similar role, working with children and young people with diverse learning needs
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant certificate
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people
