Our receptionists and ward clerks are key to the service we provide to children and families attending Sophie’s Place and Northbrook ward. They are often the first people families meet: giving a friendly and professional greeting, checking them in for their appointment and answering any queries or questions they may have. Our team works closely with nursing and medical teams to ensure patients have the care they require and that our outpatient clinics run smoothly.

The role consists of a range of shift patterns including early, late and long days. Short weekend shifts are also part of the pattern.

• Prioritise own workload and work as part of a team.
• Show enthusiasm and energy as part of a friendly, hardworking clerical team.
• Keep calm under pressure and deal sympathetically with children and families.
• Remain flexible to support nursing and admin staff around the unit.
• Use NHS IT systems effectively and liaise with patients, relatives, clinicians and medical secretaries throughout the Trust to provide high quality service.

• Ability to prioritise own workload.
• Enthusiastic, energetic, friendly and calm under pressure.
• Flexibility to support the unit and liaise with other staff.
• Experience with NHS IT systems required.
• Good communication skills with children, families and colleagues.
